Evaluation of pilot phase - 9 January 2018
This paper gives an evaluation of the pilot phase in Spain and the UK by analysing sales data and interviews with customers and retailer personnel.
Thanks to this study it was possible to derive some recommendations for how the tool should be promoted in store, how Digi-Label partners and retailers should work together, which kind of retailers are more or less suited for an implementation of PocketWatt and how data should be collected for the upcoming roll-out phase.
Final report on energy efficiency information and content - 28 February 2017
This report summarises the findings of the project so far on:
- Consumer understanding of existing printed energy labels
- The role and possible design of digital tools
- Getting consumer’s feedback on digital tools in consumer workshops and
- Manufacturers and retailers views on the development of a digital tool.
On the basis of these the report gives a set of seven recommendations for the future development of digital label tools, thus contributing to making PocketWatt, or similar digital resources, fit for purpose. The recommendations aim at unlocking the potential of digital tools for consumer understanding in combination with the existing printed energy label.
Scientific report on the consumer perspective of digital labels and solutions - 20 January 2017
This report summarises the findings from two consumer workshops (22 consumers in Germany and Spain) who tested and discussed a draft version of the PocketWatt digital label tool. The aim of this exercise was to identify areas where the PocketWatt tool could be improved, making relevant information clear and accessible to the end-user. This report summarises the work done in these consumer workshops, and the improvements made to the tool following the input and needs identified by the participants. Overall, the participants appreciated the approach and gave some ideas for refining and extending features, which were then implemented in an updated version of PocketWatt. However, the participants pointed to the need to find more ways to persuade consumers (and retailers) to make energy-efficiency a higher priority in appliance and product purchasing decisions
Evaluation framework - 25 October 2016
This is an initial evaluation framework to be implemented in order to monitor the success and impact of the project and to develop a digital solution that really supports customers.
Evaluation includes gathering relevant data in order to critically assess project impact as well as future impact after project lifetime. The evaluation results will also be used to improve ongoing project work by ensuring that project outputs are developed and constantly improved according to customer needs.
Digital solutions to compliment the Energy Label - 9 August 2016
This report presents the rationale behind using digital solutions to compliment the information available on the EU Energy Label. It first describes our connected reality and how digital technology has been integrated to retail and online sales activities. It then identifies the best design for an efficient and consumer-focused solution that is based on reviews of existing solutions worldwide and consultations with manufacturers and retailers.
Consumer understanding of the Energy Label - 30 June 2016
This report identifies seven areas where the energy label could be improved to help consumers better understand the information being conveyed. There is a considerable body of evidence that indicates the way the information is presented is nearly as important as the information itself.
- 11 Oct 2016 - European Stakeholders Workshop, Brussels, Belgium. The Digi-Label Consortium Partners convened the first European Stakeholders Workshop to discuss the draft digital solution being developed for energy labeling. There was excellent participation from the community, including over 30 participants from industry, retailers, researchers and consumer groups.
